Stretch it, curl it, pin it, loosen it, flat iron it, blow dry it and repeat it all over again.... Phew! Poor hair! Despite doing all this to look even more beautiful, we have a problem: we forget the most important thing before using a heat source: THERMAL PROTECTION.
Each hair fiber will react differently to heat. The more fragile your hair is, the more heat can affect its structure. When we expose our hair to high temperatures without proper protection, the hair cuticles open and lose their keratin and protein mass, damaging the pores. In other words, our hair becomes dull and lifeless.
To protect your hair from heat and maintain its health and beauty, it's essential to adopt a care routine that includes specific products and a few simple practices. Here are some tips to help you protect your hair from heat damage:
1. Use heat-protective products: Before exposing your hair to the heat of a hairdryer, flat iron or curling iron, it is essential to apply a heat-protective product. These products form a barrier over the hair, helping to minimize heat damage.
2. Don't overdo it with the temperature: Avoid using very high temperatures on your heaters. Opt for lower or medium settings whenever possible. Very high temperatures can damage the structure of the hair more easily.
3. Limit the use of heat tools: Try to reduce the frequency with which you use heat tools to style your hair. If possible, give your hair days off between heat sessions to allow it to recover from the damage.
4. Protect your hair from the sun: Just as we protect our skin from UV rays, we should also protect our hair. Use hair products with sunscreen to protect your hair from sun damage.
5. Moisturize regularly: Keeping your hair well moisturized is essential for protecting it from heat. Use moisturizing masks regularly to help maintain the health and elasticity of your hair.
6. Avoid very tight hairstyles: Tying your hair too tightly can cause damage to your hair, especially when combined with heat. Opt for looser hairstyles and use accessories that don't bind or pull the hair too much.
7. Cut regularly: Cutting the ends regularly helps to remove damaged parts of the hair, keeping it healthy and preventing the spread of heat damage.
Following these simple tips can help protect your hair from heat and maintain its health and beauty. Always remember to prioritize heat protection and hydration to ensure that your hair remains strong, shiny and beautiful, even with frequent use of heat tools.
